THE BRUTALITY OF COMMON SENSE

So for month, upon month and year upon year, those that have our “best interest” at heart have been telling us that euthanasia is the only answer, keeping people artificially alive is a) wrong, b) too expensive, c) inhumane, etc., etc. On the another side, some say, let nature take its’ course.  Allow for the dignity in quietly passing, and still others say all things should be employed to sustain life no matter what.

And in the midst of this debate, I must admit that my own thoughts and feelings have fluctuated.  I suppose that’s as it should be.  After all, this is a major decision for our society! Should we be the arbiters of life and death? Should we allow for euthanasia? And if we do, what are the circumstances we will use to employ this solution? Then, how can we regulate the practice? CAN we even regulate?

Without question, the entire topic presents us with a slippery slope, fraught with personal, religious, practical and medical considerations that make nearly any type of consensus an impossibility.

I have been and will probably remain on the side of; “it’s a personal individual decision” at best, or a “family” decision where the individual is not physically able to decide. And then the decision is agreed upon by all relations. That seemed to make sense to me, until this morning.

For those of you that are old enough to remember “Rosanna Rosanna Danna”; she was a character created by Gilda Radner who appeared on Laugh In during its’ hey day! Her character Rosanna Rosanna Danna was a hilarious creation! And as it would happen, this morning I read something that brought that character to mind. She would always say: “It’s always something”!!!  (I include a brief sample of Gilda’s work – she was brilliant in my view. What do you think?

I use Rosanna’s back and forth struggle to show, that after I have thought long and deep on the issue of euthanasia, back and forth, back and forth; I decided on my position on this issue. Then, this morning while reading a post from a contemporary, who also blogs at WordPress, while buzzing along with my firmly made up mind I screeched to a halt.  This, while reading a post from Dan Mitchel (who authors one of the blogs that I find an intelligent and even-handed discussion of issues).

It’s a gift he seems to have. A certain way of presenting the facts, without your having to get the feeling that he is trying to change your mind. Of course, some of his work does change your mind, but you still have the satisfaction of coming to the conclusions on your own without the hard sell. His topic was not a piece on should we or shouldn’t we, but rather a quiet discussion of England and its government run health care.  And the brutality of the system.

As a result of my reading his piece, I have determined to fight Obamacare with new resolve!!

OBAMA AND THE LAND OF OZ

A REASONABLE QUESTION… DESERVES AN ANSWER

Written by a female Obama supporter who voted for him for president.

Legitimate Question

This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. I voted for Obama. McCain was a Washington insider and we don’t need any more of them. I have changed my mind three times, since then. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with. I started thinking “where does all the money come from for President Obama”? I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans. I started looking into Obama’s history for my own peace of mind.

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California . He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. “Barry” (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan . During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a “round the world” trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia , next Hyderabad in India , three weeks in Karachi , Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family, then off to Africa to visit his father’s family.

My question – Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they were in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York . It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack – not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia ? It’s not cheap to say the least.

My girls asked me; where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe it’s none of my business?

After Columbia , he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago ? Why not New York ? He was already living in New York . By “chance” he met Antoin “Tony” Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria , and a real estate developer in Chicago . Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery several times in the past and in 2011.

Rezko, was named “Entrepreneur of the Decade” by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association”. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School . Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School ?

Where did he get the money for Law School ? More student loans? His family has no money that’s for sure.

After Law school, he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what I discovered? They represented “Rezar” which is Rezko’s firm.

Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with “seed money” for his U.S. Senate race.

In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for this property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz , Iran ! Am I going nuts or is there a pattern here?

On May 10, 2008, The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was “sacked” after the press found out he was having regular contacts with “Hamas”, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran . This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq , he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will “Take care of things”. What the heck does that mean?

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that were born in Pakistan ? They are in charge of all those “small” Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East ?

And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2009, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, “My Muslim faith”. When questioned, “he made a mistake”. Some mistake huh?

All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it – Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times – Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times – September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008.

Now the BIG question – If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven’t all of our “intelligent” members of the press been reporting this? Is this a Kettle of Fish?? As Arsenio Hall would say.—-“HUMMMMMMM! Does something stink or is it my imagination?” These are legitimate questions for our president.

THE BILL OF RIGHTS –

Call me a stickler, but I believe that the “Bill of Rights” was meant for everyone, and it’s especially for those with whom the majority may disagree. So, for the record, below is the short version: (click on “Bill of Rights” to get the full text!)

1.    FREEDOM OF RELIGION

2.    RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS

3.    CONDITIONS FOR QUARTERS OF SOLDIERS

4.    RIGHT OF SEARCH AND SEIZURE REGULATED

5.    RIGHT TO FAIR TRIAL

6.    RIGHT TO A SPEEDY TRIAL

7.    RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY

8.    EXCESSIVE BAIL, CRUEL PUNISHMENT

9.    RULE OF CONSTRUCTION OF CONSTITUTION

10.  RIGHT OF THE STATES TO PETITION GOVERNMENT

Having enumerated those rights above, I must say that as of late there have been seeing comments appearing across a variety of blogs and posts on the internet that question the rights of others that are writing and posting on the internet things with which they disagree.

Could anything posted on the internet be more dangerous than those who want to take away another authors right to post? Of course that would probably be close to impossible, but the very idea is alarming! Disagreement and debate is a necessary activity of a free people! And the internet has allowed peoples all over the globe to read and learn about the rights of others. So we must exercise CAUTION, and WISDOM, as if the rights of one person are threatened, it affects the rights of ALL people! So suggesting, even thinking of quashing debate…is a very, very slippery slope. As, who will decide what is acceptable and unacceptable?

Without a doubt, I believe that the situation we currently find ourselves in is exactly what our Forefathers had in mind when they wrote and adopted that venerated document  the BILL OF RIGHTS!

It is a double edged sword for us to proclaim freedom for ourselves and for those who agree with us, but leave out those that don’t have similar beliefs. This is certainly NOT freedom and especially not religious freedom! Are we Christians so insecure in our personal beliefs that we feel we have to control those that don’t share our beliefs?

I certainly hope not!!

THE RUSH TO TO JUDGEMENT…..

I think we could all agree that those of Liberal leaning are not the most subtle of folks. And this is especially so when they think they have a conservative target in their cross hairs! But unfortunately for them (and fortunately for us) their very zeal is that which usually is their undoing as they are attacking what they perceive as a weak target.

These last few weeks, their target of choice has been Rush Limbaugh, whom they believe would be run out of town on a rail, not to mention lose his very popular radio show for some comments he made about a certain Georgetown student! Why I understand that Gloria Allred even went so far as to suggest that he be arrested!

It amazes one that these same zealots loose their enthusiasm when it comes to an out of place comment that was made by one of their own!

The posturing all started of course over his comments on Sandra Fluke, and though the support for Rush was overwhelming, it never occurred to the liberal misogynists to simply look in their own backyard if they wanted to find some truly attack worthy misogynistic statements! How about Chris, Kieth both commentators!

What this pundit finds really amazing in this situation is that the “liberal” media types feel totally comfortable applying an obviously double standard – which reminds me of my father who when I was a little tyke used to say: “DON’T DO AS I DO, DO AS I SAY!”

Well I say conservatives have been quiet for to long and letting these doublespeak doofuses get away with bad politics, bad grammar and bad ideas!  It is too bad that the word conservative also means: marked by or relating to traditional norms of taste, elegance, style, or manners. It’s the only thing that keeps us from burying the left wing in rhetoric and pithy repartee surpassing their own pointed and somewhat lacking attempts at wit!!
