Hello all!  Well it has been a bit of time passing since I have commented, and I apologize for the interruption and depriving you of my witty political prognostications.  However sometimes life gets a bit complicated and that requires full time attention to the goings on at hand. But since there has been a bit of time passed since the personal complications and turmoil, I am ready to resume my witty, intelligent and timely commentary on the goings on of the government and those that run it. (for better or worse!)

As you might have guessed, although I have not been able to comment, I have been keeping up with the times and have (as usual) plenty to say about our (I use the term loosely) leaders!

So tune in and get ready!!!!

Downsizing Congress sounds great?

This sounds good to me!! How about you…

I could vote for something like this. There’s really only one problem . . . it’s a nice pipe dream. All 535 members of the combined US House of Reps. and Senate would vote against this because it threatens their gravy train!!! And I have forwarded a similar proposal several times over the past four years and never heard a single word about it from anybody. Apparently the people I sent it to 1. Deleted it or 2. Did not forward it or 3. Felt that it was a futile endeavor or 4. Did not know what the message was talking about or 5. Did not agree with it or 6. Are planning to run for a US Congressional office or 7. Work for a member of the US Congress or 8. Are a relative of a member of the US Congress. or 9. Are receiving monetary stipends form members of the US Congress (welfare) or 10 Just don’t give a shit. Cheers, Del..

This is something I believe in and I hope you all read it all the way

When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers.

The remaining workers must find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well.

Wall street and the media normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision", and the board of directors gives upper corporate management big bonuses.

Our government should not be immune from similar risks.

Reduce the House of Representatives from the current 435 members to 218 members.

Reduce Senate members from 100 to 50(one per State). Then, reduce their remaining staff by 25%.

Accomplish this over the next 8 years (two steps/two elections) and of course this would require some

Some Yearly Monetary Gains Include:

$44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress. (267 members X $165,200 pay/member/ yr.)

$437,100,000 for elimination of their staff (Estimate $1.3 Million in staff per each member of the House, and $3 Million in staff per each member of the Senate every year)

$108,350,000 for the reduction in remaining staff by 25%.

$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork barrel earmarks each year. (Those members whose jobs are gone. Current estimates for total government pork earmarks are at$15 Billion/yr).

The remaining representatives would need to work smarter and improve efficiencies. It might even be in their best interests to work together for the good of our country!

We may also expect that smaller committees might lead to a more efficient resolution of issues as well. It might even be easier to keep track of what your representative is doing.

Congress has more tools available to do their jobs than it had back in 1911 when the current number of representatives was established. (Telephone, computers, cell phones to name
a few)

Congress does not hesitate to head home for extended weekends, holidays and recesses, when what the nation needs is a real fix for economic problems. Also, we had 3 senators who were not doing their jobs for the 18+ months (on the campaign trail) and still they all accepted full pay. Minnesota survived very well with only one senator for the first half of this year. These facts alone support a reduction in senators and congress. Summary of opportunity: $44,108,400 reduction of congress members.
$282,100,000 for elimination of the reduced house member staff.
$150,000,000 for elimination of reduced senate member staff.
$70,850,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining house members.
$37,500,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining senate members.
$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork added to bills by the reduction of congress members.
$8,084,558,400 per year, estimated total savings. (That’s 8-BILLION just to start!)

Corporate America does these types of cuts all the time. There’s even a name for it. "Downsizing."

“I don’t support that,” said Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), a member of the Armed Services Committee whose district includes one of the nation’s largest military installations. “You get into dangerous territory when you talk about using national security as a bargaining chip with the president.”

Have we ever given our law makers permission to bargain with our security? Our defense? I hope that you all answered NO, a resounding NO! But that is apparently what is going on in our Congress as they try to “Bargan with Barack”!!

Now I don’t know about you, but I am rather alarmed that our President, leader of our military thinks it is ok to bargain away our personal security. To do so means that he is not very engaged in what the world or homeland situation actually is.

I say Mr Obama, America has enemies! They have been able to attack us on our own soil! Our SONS AND DAUGHTERS are all over the world on foreign soil protecting us and our interests. HOW DARE YOU BARGAIN WITH THEIR LIVES!!!

Our President should be interested in protecting our Country and its interests and the American People!  Instead, he is a typical ideologue compromising his responsibilities for his personal agenda!

And what is that agenda?  I am sure that most of us don’t have a clue, beyond the steps he has already taken to weaken our position around the world and insult our allies. I believe that his agenda includes breaking more of our laws and continuing as President for some time to come.

My prayer is that the American People begin immediately to recognize the internal threat and start to take action. He can succeed only if people don’t know or don’t care.

But I don’t believe that he is right in his belief.  All Americans care and we will show him I pray by opposing his attempts to “fundamentally change” our country.

So for month, upon month and year upon year, those that have our “best interest” at heart have been telling us that euthanasia is the only answer, keeping people artificially alive is a) wrong, b) too expensive, c) inhumane, etc., etc. On the another side, some say, let nature take its’ course.  Allow for the dignity in quietly passing, and still others say all things should be employed to sustain life no matter what.

And in the midst of this debate, I must admit that my own thoughts and feelings have fluctuated.  I suppose that’s as it should be.  After all, this is a major decision for our society! Should we be the arbiters of life and death? Should we allow for euthanasia? And if we do, what are the circumstances we will use to employ this solution? Then, how can we regulate the practice? CAN we even regulate?

Without question, the entire topic presents us with a slippery slope, fraught with personal, religious, practical and medical considerations that make nearly any type of consensus an impossibility.

I have been and will probably remain on the side of; “it’s a personal individual decision” at best, or a “family” decision where the individual is not physically able to decide. And then the decision is agreed upon by all relations. That seemed to make sense to me, until this morning.

For those of you that are old enough to remember “Rosanna Rosanna Danna”; she was a character created by Gilda Radner who appeared on Laugh In during its’ hey day! Her character Rosanna Rosanna Danna was a hilarious creation! And as it would happen, this morning I read something that brought that character to mind. She would always say: “It’s always something”!!!  (I include a brief sample of Gilda’s work – she was brilliant in my view. What do you think?

I use Rosanna’s back and forth struggle to show, that after I have thought long and deep on the issue of euthanasia, back and forth, back and forth; I decided on my position on this issue. Then, this morning while reading a post from a contemporary, who also blogs at WordPress, while buzzing along with my firmly made up mind I screeched to a halt.  This, while reading a post from Dan Mitchel (who authors one of the blogs that I find an intelligent and even-handed discussion of issues).

It’s a gift he seems to have. A certain way of presenting the facts, without your having to get the feeling that he is trying to change your mind. Of course, some of his work does change your mind, but you still have the satisfaction of coming to the conclusions on your own without the hard sell. His topic was not a piece on should we or shouldn’t we, but rather a quiet discussion of England and its government run health care.  And the brutality of the system.

As a result of my reading his piece, I have determined to fight Obamacare with new resolve!!

Yes, Wayne Allen Root: There is a State of Stupid

This video comment is from one of my favorite morning stops – Bob Livingston – Personal Liberty Digest authored by Contributing Editor Wayne Allen Root.  I have been following his daily comments for some time now,  and as far as I am concerned, he has a talent for cutting through the bull, and daily churn out of slanted truths and outright lies that come from the political grist mill! His straight talk always hits the nail on the head, and is my starting point every morning as I go through the previous days news and comment. He also doesn’t mince words, as you can hear for yourself if you take a minute to watch the days offering above.

But I think we can all see that our politicians are obfuscating the issues! And we are getting the American version of Kabuki from our Congressmen and Senators.  So our governing bodies have long been bastions of obfuscation!  Merriam Webster defines obfuscate as;  to be evasive, unclear or confusing!  And (straight from the dictionary) here are two examples of usage:

  1. Politicians keep obfuscating the issues.
  2. Their explanations only serve to obfuscate and confuse.

Yep, these are the two examples straight from the Merriam & Webster dictionary! (Go and look for yourself!)  And isn’t it revealing that Websters particularly used “politicians” as the examples to let us know what the word meant… hummm.  Do we discern a long pattern of savvy? That even Websters researchers understand their representatives!! Eureka!!

The fact is that since the days of Ben Franklin, “politicians” haven’t changed much; they are still doing what they do even in 1800’s!  So, I sadly(?) some things never change. (sorry). And since the job isn’t going to change, perhaps we all need to start changing our ideas of WHAT we want in an elected representative and find that person.  A STATESMAN, comes to my mind and provides a better mental picture of the people that we want to start electing. We should also take more time to educate ourselves as to our candidates voting histories – research for ourselves and not blindly believe all the public relations hype, produced by experts to make candidates look good.

Here’s a test, the definition of statesman is below; try to think of one name in the current elected officials that you think fits this definition! Then leave your “candidate” in the comment section.  I will tally the results and present them at the end of December. (so if you want your man/woman to win get your friends to read and vote!)

  1. one versed in the principles or art of government; especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government or in shaping its policies
  2. a wise, skillful, and respected political leader

Just a minute; I’m trying to think of contemporaries that would fall in these categories…..hummm, need more time, …… nope still need more time!  Well maybe you can think of one… SO COMMENT AND LET ME KNOW WHO COMES TO YOUR MINDS, WHO MIGHT BE IN THE LEAGUE WITH BEN FRANKLIN, GEORGE WASHINGTON,  AND OTHER STATESMEN!

Hello all! Well there was (just in case you noticed)  a new blip in my normal, quiet, political existence!  I will name it a lifus interruptis.. or perhaps a shit happens episode; but whatever it was,  my last blogging was .. actually my last blogging for quite a period of time.  I will say that the loss of my dear Sister and traveling companion affected me in many ways, and I was sort of sucked into myself dealing with loss (ps – it takes longer than you think, no matter how you try to intellectualize it). And of course as sisters go, I believe we were closer than most get an opportunity to be; having been roommates for many of our Senior years.

Anyway, now I am back and with brains and fingers working together with eyes and opinions bouncing around looking for a way to get out! I am once again committed to the daily review of left wing baloney and BS – after all, what’s more fun than picking apart left wing political philosophies! It’s a wonderful thing: that is of course unless it’s yours that’s being picked apart!!

And I salute the Washington Career Politicos to continue to chaff, gaff and help us laugh. Thereby providing fodder for the grist mill. Which of course ends when the mischief making is self destructive to our union!

And lately, one could spend days counting the bad ideas spewing from Washington!  Don think so? Well consider how many States have been reviewing the rules to withdraw from the “United” States as a precursor to an all out battle for the heart and soul of our beloved country. Who can blame “we the people” having suffered through all the Obama mischief making to void the constitution and make our country his kingdom!

All the government freeloaders finally outnumber those that prefer work. Yep those folks who don’t want to be in charge of their own lives; who want to be told what to do, what to think, what to eat….. you get the drift! The welfare Zombies. It’s just to bad that the freeloaders just don’t get it that, when to working people stop working there won’t be anyone to provide largess for the freeloaders!!

You think there may be a bit of rioting? Pissed off people when the stuff runs out? Duhhhhh!
